The Baltimore/Washington airport is the major international airport servicing the Baltimore area of Maryland. It is one of the three primary airports serving the Baltimore –Washington metropolitan area. The airport is also called the Baltimore/Washington International airport Thurgood Marshall Airport, named after Thurgood Marshall, who was a Baltimore native and the first African American who served as Justice in the U.S Supreme Court.  It is located in the unincorporated area of Anne Arundel County, just 9 miles south of downtown Baltimore, it is about 30 miles to the northeast of Washington D.C. the Baltimore/Washington International airport is the busiest airport in Maryland, and the Baltimore-Washington metro area. The airport also has a huge population base coming from the Richmond, Philadelphia, and Harrisburg metropolitan areas.

Baltimore, as you may have known, is the largest city in Maryland. It’s got a very important seaport on the wide estuary of Patapsco. It holds a very emotional place in the heart of American history since 1814 when the British forces bombarded Fort McHenry for about 25 hours, yet it wouldn’t surrender.

There’s a lot to do and see in Baltimore. You may start by checking out the Baltimore inner harbor, which is the focal point of the city. It is surrounded by several museums and a busy harbor place with the pavilions, restaurants, shops, promenade, etc.  There are lots of historic ships here and they are all open to tourists. The distinct neighborhood of Baltimore is also a part of the attraction which captivates tourists. The Fell’s point is always lively, Little Italy, sedate Mount Vernon, hip Haden, and a host of others. There’s a lot to see between all these, including cultural activities, like the renowned symphony orchestra, the several historic sites, where you get a feel of history, the museums to learn of the various artifacts, etc. Baltimore has got a lot for tourists to do. There’s the Walters Art Gallery, National Aquarium, American Visionary Art Museum.

Direction: How to leave the airport by car

Having got your keys in hand, you want to drive to Baltimore, the adventure is about to begin. The drive to the city takes about 11 miles and is located to the north of the airport. This drive should take about 20-30 minutes.

There are several routes to drive into the city, one of which is the MD-295 north, this will take you directly to the city and the distance is about 8 miles. If you’re in need of a detour, then the interstate 95 north will do, the distance is around 4 miles. Then merge with the interstate 395N. Following this route leads directly into the inner Harbor.

Having arrived at the Baltimore/Washington International airport, next up is to check out of the airport and check into your hotel room. You can’t wait to start your adventure –alright. But you’re in need of one thing, mobility. Your tour of D.C, Baltimore (Maryland), Virginia, and others is going to be made easy and fun if you are behind your steering, pulling the strings.

Your tour is only going to begin as you decide your schedule and pace yourself, and not the bus schedule deciding your movement for you. It could be difficult learning the bus schedule, joining the queue and adjusting your movement to suit the slow flow of the bus.

When you get your rental car from the Baltimore/Washington International airport, you have the freedom to move anywhere, whenever you want to.

Our rental car service provides you with rental cars of any kind, be it the sporty convertibles, SUV, sedan, pick-up truck, etc. and they all come at pocket-friendly prices. You need a rental car to allow you to easily see all the places on your itinerary, and even more.
