The Kahului Airport is in the state of Hawaii and is a regional airport which is located on the eastern part of Kahului Town in Maui County near Haleakala on the island of Maui, Hawaii, in the United States. It has been offering complete airport services since 1952.

Most of the flights flying into the Kahului Airport are from the Daniel K. Inouye Intl Airport in Honolulu. This interchange is one of the busiest routes in the States, in fact, it was ranked 13th in 2004 with 1,632,000 passengers flying between them.

The IATA airport code of the Kahului airport is OGG, which was made to honor Bertram J. “Jimmy” Hogg, an aviation pioneer from Kauai, who worked on what we now know to be the Hawaiian Airline aircraft. Which was only able to carry 8 passengers (the Sikorsky S-38 amphibian) to the Douglas DC-3s in the latter part of the 1960s.

Kahului remains the largest city on Maui Island. The airport is located on the north shore of Maui, and the airport serves Kahului, Pearl City, Honolulu, and East Honolulu.

On Maui Island, there are quite a number of attractions that would catch your attention. For instance, the Maui Nui Botanical Garden, which is close to the city center of Kahului, is dedicated to the conservation of Hawaiian plants. There are over 40 sugar cane species here, and over 20 species of taro (Taro is a tropical green plant).

If you love golf, then the dunes of Maui Lani will interest you. They have been recognized by major golf magazines for their design reminiscent of the British or Scottish open link courses. It is an 18-hole championship layout that is open to the general public and offers lots of dunes that put to test the full range of your game. The county park may also interest you among other places. You know Hawaii is known for its beaches, don’t you? Alright, you don’t want to miss the Ho’okipa Beach Park which is less than 10 km from the Kahului Airport. Of course, there is ample parking space so you do not have any issues about where to park your rental car. Ho’okipa Beach Park is an amazing place for surfing. While on the park, you stand a chance of spotting sea turtles.

As you touch down the airport and ready to leave, there are shuttle services made available, for exits. However, these are not as comfortable as your private cars, so you may opt for rental cars.

To make the most of your stay in Maui, it is important to rent a car because you may not be able to enjoy all the beauty this island has to offer if you move about on public transport. After you hop into your rental car, you will be able to explore some of the island’s best attractions –at your own pace.

Once you alight from your flight, there is no wasting time, you’re likely to immerse yourself in the thick of action immediately, and the island is that fun.
