Once you arrive at Cork Airport, we recommend that you go to the place where you will be staying during your stay and design your own itinerary with your car hire, as there are many places to visit in a limited time.
You can start visiting Cobh, which is a beautiful coastal town, about half an hour from Cork, where you can stroll through its port and enjoy the beautiful scene of its multicolored houses topped by the neo-Gothic cathedral, a building that was begun in 1868. Also in Cobh, you must visit the tourist attraction Titanic Experience. The port of Cobh was the last stop of the Titanic during its maiden voyage and before its sinking. There, 120 passengers boarded and seven others got off, and one of them took the last picture of the missing ship. In Cobh, the dock from which the passengers left for the ship is still preserved, and in the building that once housed a shipping company, you can now visit the Titanic Experience attraction.
From Cobh, you have the possibility to head south to villages like Kinsale, where you can see several cultural places worth visiting like Charles Fort or Desmon Castle. You can continue driving to the village of Skibbereen or the bustling atmosphere of Clonakilty.
Following the route by car to South West Cork, towards the region known as West Cork, you arrive at the coastal town of Bantry where you can visit Bantry House. It is an imposing manor house located in front of the sea and surrounded by splendid gardens.
Visit Garnish Island. Not far from the town of Bantry you have the opportunity to make a curious excursion from Glengarriff in Bantry Bay. It is a matter of crossing in a small boat to Garnish Island, where you arrive in just 10 minutes, and in whose journey, through the calm waters of the bay you will pass by a colony of seals with about 250 specimens. Garnish is actually a park with some nice and pleasant gardens for walking.
And if you like towns with colorful houses, situated on the nearby Beara Peninsula in West Cork you have the small town of Eyeries. Many tourists come to this corner to take pictures of its streets with houses whose facades are decorated with bright colors.
