About the Airport
The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (or ABIA) is a C-class international airport. It is located in Austin, Texas. It serves the greater Austin metro area.
It is about 8km or 5miles southeast of downtown Austin and spans over 1,717 ha. There are two runways and three helipads at the airport. It is located on the former Bergstrom Air Base. Both the airport and the air force base were named in honor of Captain John August Earl Bergstrom, an officer in the 19th Bombardment Group. The Austin Bergstrom airport replaced Robert Mueller municipal as the main airport in Austin. It serves the greater Austin.
