Please follow signs to Ground Transportation after leaving the baggage claim area, and take a courtesy shuttle to the rental car campus, located at the Northeast corner of the airport along Lucas Drive. Rental car shuttle bus stops can be found in the Ground Transportation Centers of both the McNamara Terminal Parking Garage and the Big Blue Deck of the North Terminal.

Please note that if you are renting from an off-airport rental car agency, shuttle pickup may be at a separate location. Please follow signs for Off-Airport Rental Car Shuttles.

Drop Off your Car

Drive to the rental car facility lots, located at the Northeast corner of the airport along Lucas Drive, and find your rental car agency. Once you have handed over the keys, a shuttle bus will take you directly to your terminal’s Ground Transportation Center.

Please note that if you rented from an off-airport rental car agency, drop off will be at the same location you picked up your rental.

The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is popularly called the Detroit metro airport, the metro airport or just DTW for short. It is a major international airport in the United States and covers about 4859 acres. The airport is in the Romulus Michigan suburb of Detroit. The DTW is the busiest airport in Michigan. It is also one of the hubs of the largest airlines in America, United airlines. In the 2017-2021 national plan of the integrated airport system, it was categorized as a large primary hub of the commercial facility by the federal aviation administration.

Direction: leaving the airport by car

The DTW is located about 21 miles eastern downtown Detroit, and 28 miles western Ann Arbor. It is adjacent to two major freeways, namely the I-94, (runs east to west) and the I-275 (running north and to south). From here, you can have quick and easy access to the center of Detroit and the major metropolitan destinations in the city such as the Detroit Institute of art, Henry Ford Museum, etc.
